Help with cracked and failed PV modules
Send details of the damage and, if known, the panel make or system age.

A cracked or failed solar panel does not automatically mean the entire array needs replacing. In many cases the priority is assessing the damaged module, checking the surrounding installation and determining whether a technically suitable replacement can be sourced.
Replacement is not simply a matter of fitting any panel of a similar physical size. Electrical characteristics, dimensions, mounting arrangement, string design and the condition of the rest of the array all matter. The technician assesses those factors before recommending a replacement approach.

Individual PV modules can be damaged by impact, weather events, physical stress or internal failure.
Visible cracking can compromise the module and should be assessed rather than ignored.
Falling debris or other impacts can damage an individual panel while leaving the remainder of the array intact.
Where diagnostics indicate one module is no longer operating correctly, replacement may be considered if a suitable match can be found.
When the exact module is unavailable, compatibility needs to be considered carefully before an alternative is proposed.

Electrical and physical compatibility is considered rather than treating all solar panels as interchangeable.
The aim is to address the affected part of the system where that is technically sensible.
Systems can be assessed even where the original panel model may no longer be readily available.
If you can safely photograph the damaged panel from the ground, that information can help the technician understand the issue before a visit.
Free — no obligations

The technician establishes whether the panel appears damaged or failed and whether further diagnosis is needed.
Panel specifications and physical dimensions are checked where possible.
Potential replacements are considered against the electrical and mechanical requirements of the array.
Where suitable, the damaged module is replaced by the technician and the affected system operation is checked.
